Monday afternoon, Abby
brought Daniel and Mary over to visit and play.
The grandkids greeted me and then Daniel called for Granddad. Both Abby and I told him that Granddad was at
work and that he would be home soon.
Daniel went to our room, the closet, the utility room, and other places
in the house just to make sure Larry wasn’t really there. Even though he heard us, he still checked it
out just in case Granddad really was home.
Thank goodness it wasn’t too long before Larry arrived. There was a lot of excitement, squeals, and
laughter when the garage door opened and Granddad walked in.
In this age of media,
there is so much information that is posted as truth. It’s believable; therefore we sometimes
repeat it, post it, or comment on it without checking further for details and
authenticity.
Jesus even warned us of
false prophets and false messiahs that would try to deceive us. That’s why we need to intentionally read and
know God’s Word so we check out what we hear, see, and choose to do based on
truth. And Jesus said, “Then you will
know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
“Watch
out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s
clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
Matthew 7:15
For
false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to
deceive, if possible, even the elect.
Matthew 24:24
To the Jews who had believed
him, Jesus said, “If
you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then
you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John8:31, 32
The
man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you
also may believe.
John 19:35
Dear
friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they
are from God, because many false
prophets have gone out into the
world.
I John 4:1
