Worth Considering

There’s something about a birthday that offers a chance to appreciate the past, treasure the gift of the present, and look forward to the future.  This has been a great week for doing that, along with thanking God for the people who have shared and added so much to my journey.

“Legacy is not leaving something for people.  It’s leaving something in people.  Our inheritance includes the example we live, the moral compass we set, the character we develop, and the name we build for ourselves and our family.”

~ Joshua Becker

“Christianity is simple, just not easy.

Love God.  Love your neighbor.”

Use your voice for kindness,

your ears for compassion,

your hands for charity,

your mind for truth,

and your Heart for Love.

“Mountaintop experiences offer us a great view.

But the fruit always grows in the valley.”

We sow a thought

and reap an action;

sow an action, reap a habit;

sow a habit, reap a character;

sow a character and reap a destiny.

~ Samuel Smiles

“To inspire people, don’t show them your superpowers.  Show them theirs.”

~ Umberto Gaudino

“Speak, Lord,

for Thy servant

heareth.

Grant us ears to hear

eyes to see,

wills to obey

hearts to love.”

“We do not draw people to Christ by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it.”

~ Madeleine L’Engle

“You and I will reflect

the character of the

Spirit when we abide

in the Spirit.”

We should not be either a Mary or a Martha, but we should be both – one who spends time studying God’s Word and one who serves and takes care of others.  Be both at His feet and on our feet, listening and serving.

~ Dr. Ron Lyles

  Today you could

be talking to someone

who is trying their best

not to fall apart.

So, whatever you

do today, do it

with kindness

in your heart.

“We make a Living by what we get,

but we make a Life by what we give.”

~ Sir Winston Churchill

Love one another with brotherly affection.  Outdo one another in showing honor.

Romans 12:10

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,

Hebrews 10:24

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:9-11
