After 52 years of ministry, 42+ of those years at Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, Larry is retiring. Thursday, September 30, 2021, was his last official day in the office. I’ve always said that Tallowood was a wonderful church in which to raise our sons. As I’ve reminisced these past few weeks, I’ve had additional thoughts. Since Larry was 27 and I was 26 when we came here, Tallowood has been an important place for all five of us to grow.
Larry, as you embark on the next chapter of your life journey, I am confident that the same God who called you to minister at Mims Memorial Baptist Church, Conroe; Liberty Baptist, Boca; Northside Baptist, De Leon; South Main Baptist, Pasadena; First Baptist, Hawkins; University Baptist, Coral Gables, Florida; and Tallowood Baptist, Houston still has plans for you and your future as you listen, hear, and obey.
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:3-6
The church recognized Larry in the morning services and then had a wonderful retirement reception Sunday afternoon. It was fun to share the time with so many friends from the past and present, in town and out of town, and even out of state, along with 34 members of our family.
