“A life without service to others is a life without success.”
~ George H. W. Bush
To make a difference
in Someone’s Life,
you don’t have to be
brilliant, rich, beautiful,
or perfect.
You just have to
CARE.
Jimmy Finch, from Clarksville, Tennessee is in the lawn care business. After the news of the devastating destruction of the tornados in his state, he drove two hours to Mayfield, pulling his BBQ equipment, and set up in the middle of town. He grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, soy burgers, and sausages to provide nourishment for those who had lost so much. And he returned the next day and grilled more.
Due to heavy snowfall in Eugene the past few days, most of the members of the Oregon Band were not able to make it to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl festivities. On December 27th, both teams had a pep rally in boats along the River Walk with the bands, mascots, and cheerleaders participating in the parade. Once the Sooner band members realized the situation, several of the Oklahoma Band joined up with the Oregon Band, rode with them, and played their fight song along the parade route. Even though they will be competitors on December 29th, University of Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione stated that this is “college athletics at its finest.”
As we begin a new year, may we, too, do our part
to make a difference in our world.
Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
Psalm 115:1
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Romans 12:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
1 Peter 4:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23
