Timely Helpers

“If we can help, we help.”

~ Motto of Bruce Hayes

When Debbie Gaudin was going through cancer treatments, her strength and energy levels were running on low.  Sensing her dilemma, friend Elizabeth Crouch Glasgow stepped up to help.  The Christmas shopping was complete, so Elizabeth offered to wrap the gifts.  David, Debbie’s husband, took around 70 gifts to Elizabeth.  She sat on the floor, in front of the television, and began wrapping.  Debbie remembered, “She took all of the Christmas gifts that I bought that year and wrapped all of them for me (for free)!  And I’m not talking just some wrapping paper thrown on them.  I’m talking wrapped with beautiful ribbon and special treats on each and every one of them!  They were soooo pretty!  I’ll never forget that, Elizabeth Crouch Glasgow!!  It meant sooo, sooo much to me.  Thank you!”

Midway High School’s drama department was presenting the play “Matilda.”  As people were arriving, several seniors noticed a 91-year-old lady getting out of a car in the rain.  They quickly raced out to the car, held umbrellas over her, and helped her get in safely so she could watch her great-granddaughter in the play.

When Framber Valdez was 20 years old, he lived in Guayacanes, San Pedro de Macoris.  He couldn’t find a way to leave and be able to try out or sign with Major League Baseball.  Pastors Antonio and Edwin would give him money for his fare and food.  Valdez promised that if he was ever signed with a MLB team he would build them a nice and big church.  After signing and playing, Framber fulfilled his promise.  He expressed, “God sees and exalts the humble.  When you do things from the heart, without expecting anything in return, God blesses you with many blessings.”  Framber Valdez now pitches for the Houston Astros and has helped win a World Series title for the 2022 season.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3:12

  2. It is way too easy to give up, let go, give in. I need to remember this everyday!
